Forgings for shipbuilding are traditional products manufactured by OMZ-Special Steels.

Range of products: shafts: propeller, intermediate, thrust, stern; rudder spindles; swing rings; coaming forgings; stern boss forgings; pipe forgings for swing-masted devices, cases, walls, barrels, pistons, jaws etc.

Forgings weighing up to 80 tons, length to 18 000 mm are made of 38CrNi3MoVA, 14Cr17Ni2, 40CrNi2MoA, 38Cr2Ni2MoA, 36Cr2Ni2MoVA, 08Cr10Ni20Ti2, 08-12Cr18Ni10Ti, St.35, 07Cr16Ni4Nb, 40CrNi, 38CrMo, 34CrNiMo6, 42CrMo4, Ck50Mod and special grades according to Russian and foreign standards as to SEW, EN, DIN etc. and rules of DNV, LR, GL, BV, РМРС, РР.

Pipe forgings for swing-masted devices are made of steel grade 08Cr10Ni20Ti2. External diameter of forgings ranges from 240 to 530 mm, internal diameter – from 150 to 400 mm, length – up to 12 000 mm, weight – up to 6 tons.



OMZ-Special Steels traditionally produces castings for shipbuilding.

We take part in major projects like icebreakers LK-25 and LK-60, corvette 20385, «Yamal-SPG» and others.

Our company has a huge experience in producing body castings as well as castings for propeller-rudder system including solid propellers, blades, sternposts and other castings with sophisticated geometry.

We deliver castings for shipbuilding to CIS and other countries.

OMZ-Foundry is certified to produce castings for shipbuilding. We are approved by Lloyd’s Register as a manufacturer of propellers in martensitic stainless steel.

  • Body castings: stern posts, stem posts, gibbets, stern bosses, rudder pieces, hawse and side holes etc.

Steel grades (Casting Steels): 25, 08MnCuNiV, 08Cr14NiCu, 06Cr15Ni4CuMo.

  • Castings for propeller-rudder system: blades, hubs, fairwaters, solid propellers etc.

Steel grades (Casting Steels): 25, 20CrMo, 08MnCuNiV, 08Cr14NiCu, 06Cr15Ni4CuMo, 08Cr15Ni4CuMo.
